Our client is a major rail company working on main line and underground contracts in London. This new position has arisen within the Jubilee Line Signals team to manage critical signalling equipment storage and repairs. The role will act as the central point of contact for maintenance activities.
The Jobholder will not have any direct reports but will work closely with both the signalling maintenance team and the management team on the Jubilee Line. The successful candidate will act as the centre of information of maintenance compliance and will be responsible for availability of spares at any given time on the Jubilee Line.
The key outputs will be 100% maintenance compliance, 100% equipment availability and correct management of repairs of vital equipment through external contractors. These are not tasks but the key outputs or deliverables that the job holder is accountable for.
Required Skills and Experience:
The jobholder must be conversant with maintenance activities undertaken within the signalling discipline Candidates must demonstrate a good knowledge of signalling equipment and should have a background based on the underground. The postholder must be IT literate; demonstrating a good knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and word processing tools. A successful candidate will have knowledge and experience on basic accounting methods. It is essential that applicants have a GCSE or equivalent qualification in Mathematics, English Language and science and it is desirable that they possess a secondary qualification in engineering Ability to demonstrate supervisory skills would be desirable. Confident communications and negotiating skills are essential. Please note: You will be required to work in a railway environment, possibly working at height or in confined spaces. You will be expected to work days, nights or weekends, sometimes at very short notice in the case of incident response.
